Using quartz countertops has become very popular nowadays. However, like any other surface, quartz also requires regular care and cleaning. One of the most common issues with quartz countertops is stain removal. Below are several methods for removing stains from quartz surfaces.
-
Glass cleaner
Most glass cleaners are ideal for cleaning quartz countertops. They leave no streaks or residue and dry quickly. Some glass cleaners can also remove grease.
How to use: Spray the cleaner on the stain and wipe it in circular motions with a cloth. Rinse the surface with clean water. Repeat if necessary.
-
White vinegar and water solution
A vinegar and water solution is known for removing limescale, but it also works very well for cleaning quartz countertops. The acidic property of vinegar helps effectively remove different types of stains.
How to use: Mix equal parts white vinegar and water (preferably lukewarm). Apply the solution to the stain and let it sit for a while, then wipe it in circular motions with a cloth. Rinse the surface with clean water. Repeat if necessary. For tougher stains, leave the solution on overnight.
-
All-purpose cleaner and dishwashing detergent (for hand or machine use)
Simple stains can often be easily removed with an all-purpose cleaner or dishwashing detergent.
How to use: Apply the cleaner to the stained area and let it sit. Wipe gently in circular motions with a cloth, then rinse with clean water. Repeat until the stain is gone.
Cleaning methods that can be used but require caution:
-
Scouring powder
Scouring powders are often used in kitchens and bathrooms for removing tougher stains. They can be used on quartz surfaces if handled carefully.
How to use: Apply the product to a wet surface and gently rub with a damp cloth in circular motions. Rinse thoroughly with clean water. Do not leave scouring powder on the surface for too long or apply too much in one spot.
Cleaning cream with bleach
Bleach-based cleaning creams are effective for removing stubborn stains. However, just like with scouring powder, caution is required.
How to use: Apply the product to a wet surface and gently rub with a damp cloth in circular motions. Rinse thoroughly with clean water. Do not leave the cleaner on for too long. Improper use may cause discoloration.
Some stains may be impossible to remove with regular cleaning products. Spots, cloudiness, or discoloration can result from permanent chemical reactions. In such cases, it’s best to contact the retailer from whom you purchased the quartz countertop.
How to prevent stubborn stains?
The best way is to clean stains immediately while they are still fresh. This prevents them from soaking into the surface and makes daily cleaning easier.
Avoid exposing the surface to high heat (for example, placing hot pans directly on the stone) and refrain from using harsh cleaning agents. Quartz contains polymer resin that binds the quartz particles together, and excessive heat or strong chemicals can react with the resin. This way, your countertop will maintain its quality for a long time.
